Getting there on the big day and should I stay overnight?
The evening will run late, so staying overnight is advised, particularly if you have a long drive. We are planning for shuttle service back and forth from the Inn at Charles Town, so staying nearby is highly recommended. Please visit the travel section of the website for a list of recommended accommodations. Please visit the parking / shuttle service section of the website for additional information on getting there.
What should I expect?
Welcome to the Dead Cowboy Experience -
This ain’t your typical night — and it sure as hell ain’t your typical wedding!
It’s part ghost story, part hoedown, and all heart.
We begin at 5:30 PM sharp at the Oldest Stone Farm house with The Crossing Over Welcome Hour, a time for sparkling refreshment, quiet hellos, and whispered beginnings. The air is thick with history, and every guest becomes part of what’s about to unfold.
The night will carry on in layers, with laughter and love, haunts and hushes, music and mystery, and moments you won’t soon forget.
So follow the lanterns, listen to the wind, and let yourself be swept into the story. Tonight is a celebration of what was and what dares to rise again.
A Toast to the Living and the Dead - Will there be food & drinks?
As you wander through this night of shadow and flame, know this: No soul shall go hungry. No spirit shall go dry.
So sip slowly. Savor fully.
The dead may dance, but the living… they dine.
Are Young Cowpokes Invited?
A Gentle Warning from the Other Side…
Though we treasure the laughter of children and the joy they bring to life, this night is not for the faint of heart — nor the very young.
So, with hearts full of affection for the little darlings,
we kindly ask that you leave the cherubs behind and step boldly into this world we’ve conjured —
a night designed for grown souls… and those brave enough to wander.
What is the attire?
Dead Cowboy (Cowgirl) meets Haunted Saloon Elegance -
As night falls, the reception transforms into a ghostly gathering of the forgotten — dark, moody, and dripping in story. Guests are invited to dress in themed attire that captures the spirit of the evening.
Think
Haunted saloon, outlawed afterlife, romantic Western decay.
Will It Be Chilly?
We want all souls to experience only frightful chills, so consider the possibility of crisp Fall weather and plan your look accordingly. We will be primarily in covered outdoor spaces (barn and tent). A roaring bonfire and heaters will be provided, but if you're prone to catch a chill consider adding a warm layer beneath your fabulous ensemble. Then again, it could be 80 degrees, so check the forecast!
What Footwear Is Recommended?
Boots are ideal. The ground may be soft so definitely leave the high heels at home, y'all!
Textures
Leather, lace, velvet, fringe, feathers, bone, and burnished metal.
Colors
Black, blood red, dusty rose, whiskey brown, dark plum, hints of rust and ash.
Vibe
Grit meets glam. Gothic meets Western. Vintage meets ghost town grit.
This is not just a costume party — it’s an immersive narrative. Dress like you’re a legend who never left… and you’ve come back for one final toast.
